Dr Sylvia Kamphuis obtained her medical degree at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She specialized in Pediatrics with the subspecialism Rheumatology/Immunology at the University Medical Centre in Utrecht and simultaneously obtained a PhD in cellular immunology. Her current research focus is on SLE and early arthritis. She coordinates several (inter) national studies for childhood lupus including the Dutch national cSLE cohort study and translational studies focusing on the role of type 1 Interferon on SLE. She recently started studies looking into pathogenesis of early arthritis in children.
Dr Kamphuis is the chair of the Dutch association for Pediatric Rheumatology, chair of the european working party for childhood lupus and steering committee member of the JIRcohort research network.
